Fashion 2012

Among all things new in the New Year, fashion trends in clothing are something that the fashion savvy looks forward to the most. What new styles will rule the scene; whether or not a particular pattern will continue to be in vogue - becomes the hot topic of discussion.
City designers give us an insight on what 2012 holds for the fashion hungry...

Of cuts and styles
It's the year to be classy, upbeat and very high on fashion, says designer Nivedita Saboo. Technical fabrics with stylish cuts will rule the scene along with flowy ones.
"Women can look forward to a lot of variations in trousers and comfy shirts. Dresses will continue to be a common favourite." While resort wear is predicted to be another favoured trend for both men and women, abstracts or checks will replace the floral patterns. Designer Nachiket Barve states that contemporary styles will take the crown. "Indianness presented in a modern way will appeal the most. And rather than following a herd mentality, individuality will reflect in everyone's dressing. People of all ages will be keen on experimenting and finding a style of their own."

All things bright
Designer colour forecasts are harping big time on all bright shades like pink, magenta, yellow, lime, green, orange, red, purple being in. Saboo says, "One colour to watch out for this year is mustard gold. Mixed with ivory or metallic tones it sure is going to be a chic combo." Plain or staid colours are definitely on their way out, according to the designer. Fashionistas can also look forward to tease their colour senses with new stony shades, informs designer Priyanka Rajiv, "Pink or purple hues with a hint of grey or greens and yellows with a dab of brown are some which simply look flattering."

Less is more
Keeping it minimum is the key. And 2012 will see minimal detailing and embroidery on outfits, be it the Indian or western. Designer Priti Bhandari says, "Less use of motifs, frills, pleats and other embroidery detailing will be seen for women. The trend of lightly designed saris with dressy or heavier blouses that had caught up towards the end of 2011 will continue."
Men's fashion is also set for a transformation. They can look forward to a strong trend of jackets and business formals. Two way fabrics will also jump back in action. But in contrast to women, men's wear will witness a lot of funky detailing on the elbows or under the collars to add to their style.

For the bride to be
The glamourous bride is set to take over the coy one this year. Bhandari says, "Brides will go all out for stylish skirts and lehengas with corset like blouses. The focus will be on deep necklines and sleek cuts." Now that we have given you some valuable fashion tips, create your own style and make sure you look like a rockstar!
