So you own all the best makeup products from high-end brands but have no clue how to use them?
Or worse, they never seem to work for you no matter whichever trick you try? Here are a few simple tips so you can squeeze the best out of your products and get the effect that you desire:
-You've bought a powdered eye shadow in a deep colour so you can get those dramatic eyes but feel that the colour doesn't seem as pigmented as it looks on the palette? Apply the coloured shadow with a moist (make sure it's not dripping wet) makeup sponge or a moist eye shadow applicator. This way, the colour on your eyelids will be as deep as it looks in the pan.
-While selecting colours for your eye makeup, make sure to keep it as close as possible to the colour of your dress. It does not need to be exactly the same shade but a hue from the same colour family should work fine.
-Dark circles around the eyes is every woman's nightmare. If your under eye circles are more on the bluish side, choose a concealer that is peachy in colour so as to calm down the blue tones. For gray under eye circles, select a concealer which is more on the pink side.
-We love a little enhancement in the lash department. It just lends to our girly charm. But ladies, do not use fake lashes in office. You would want to avoid situations where your falsies fall amidst a meeting or you have a glue malfunction. Leave faux lashes for those saturday nights when you're busy painting the town red.
-Do not extend your eye shadow right upto your browbone unless you are willing to look like a geisha. Deep colours are only for the eyelids and not for your browbones. Apply a neutral colour or a highlighter on the browbones. You don't want the dramatic effect of dark shadows on your browbone.
-Normally, you can apply eye shadow right upto the browbone (but not on the browbone). But if it is a smokey eye look that you are opting for, refrain from applying the shadow beyond the crease line. Restrict the colour to your eyelid, just under the lower lash line.
-Applying mascara properly on your lashes and not on your cheeks and browbone is a very tricky deal. It requires years of practise. To avoid getting clumpy lashes, make sure you place your wand at the base of the lashes. Then go about wiggling the wand right to left, from the root to the tips.
-To get an illusion of length of your lash, apply mascara at the roots and not on the tip (as is commonly believed.)
-It is often advised to apply about two or three coats of mascara for best results. What you might not know is, you have to apply all the coats before the first coat of the mascara dries out. If you try applying more swipes after the first coat has dried up, you will end up with clumpy lashes, which is a total waste of time and effort.
