Make Up Trends 2012

Make up for this year is taking a more natural route, away from last year’s bronzed-up looks. Predicts Ms Sharmili Rajput, Marketing Director of Oriflame, “Vintage make up with touches of shimmer, basically a more worked-out look, is trending this season.” Here are the make up trends that experts from the beauty industry have predicted and we tell you how to get the look!

The look: Colour eye shadow.
Fancy bold shimmering browns and shiny gold eye shadow to highlight your eyes for a night out! “When selecting eye shadow consider a blend of warm and cool colour palettes,” say experts at Oriflame.
Get the look: 1. Create a layering effect using bright shades of purple, neon green and blue blended into neutral cream, mauve, gold, grey and bronze shadows. 2. Pastel eye shadow looks great with a touch of shimmer, on your primer.

The look: Thick & dark eyebrows
Natural eyebrows have taken over from thinly plucked ones, even runway trends now dictate darker and more pronounced brows as a style statement and staple.
Get the look: 1. Comb your eyebrows upwards to get a more prominent brow arch. 2. If sparse, fill your eyebrows in lightly with an eye pencil while keeping in mind the shape of your face. 3. Another alternative is to use a dark brown eyebrow powder to enhance the look.

The look: Winged eyeliner
The Cleopatra eyes or the winged eyeliner became popular with actresses like Sharmila Tagore and Audrey Hepburn. The slight elongation at the tips of the eye teamed with swept-up hair or a bouffant, spelled real romance and flirty fashion.
Get the look: 1. Use a pen or liquid liner to apply the eyeliner. 2. Make it thicker as you curve up the wing. 3. During the day you can draw a slightly winged line and make it bolder for the night.

The look: Nude lips
Nude lips are a great way to counterbalance stark and bold make up. That’s a subtle and classy way to play up on natural features.
Get the look: 1. Firstly, make sure your lips are well exfoliated. 2. Gloss your lips a nice shimmering nude or a sheer nude. 3. Never go to dark or too light with the shade, according to your skin tone. 4. Line your lips lightly for more definition.

The look: Flushed cheeks
In contrast to bronzed cheeks that have ruled the roost for quite some time, we see a comeback of the delicately flushed, pastel pink cheeks.
Get the look: 1. This look works best on milky skin and with minimal make up. 2. To apply, use a tinted moisturizer and apply blush on top. This will keep the blush on longer. 3. Keep your lipstick in similar flushed natural shades..
