So, the wedding season is back again! With monsoons almost kissing good bye and all the festivities knocking round the corner... my favorite ‘Winter Weddings' come to play.
You can dress and pamper yourself as much you want without bothering about the heat.
However, irrespective of the season, the moment you get the invitation, for a wedding, ”what will I wear?” is the first thing that pops up in your head. Well, here I am, to guide your way into an effortless but super-stylish look for the D-day.
The first thumb rule– read the invite carefully. First of all, it might mention the dress code for the event. Secondly it will, for sure, state the venue. Thirdly if it is a day or an evening affair. The wedding invite, more or less, solves half of your confusion regarding what to wear to the event.
If the dress code is mentioned, then it’s a pretty safe game. No hassles. For a formal code, black suit or any dark color with a satin kamarband and a shiny lapel and a bow. Also you can never go wrong with a tuxedo, which is why its another safe option for you. Alternately, you can also invest in a shiny slim tie in red or black. White shirt underneath or else a black, can be the safest bet. Stripes are definitely to be left for the office.
Black oxfords will be a good match with a tie pin and a good pair of ornamented cufflinks.
If it’s a casual affair, a blazer over good washed trousers will do. Please keep your denims at a hand’s distance. Don’t sport a Reebok or a Nike on your foot. A smart draped scarf can add to the look.
For a traditional code of attire, you have to be careful as not to overdo the thing. A sherwani with a churidaar or a pathaani salwar will have you going. This also depends which traditional wedding you are attending. Having a piece or a dash of their tradition will definitely speak a lot of you.
Venue is a vital part of any wedding. A wedding near a poolside indicates towards a light casual attire. One held in a church calls for a sober look, with a hint of flash and bling of course .
And in case you are heading for a cruise, then glam and rock baby!
A day affair calls for light, pastel colors. Your attire can be sunny bright also, but avoid making it too candy floss. Soft tinted linen suit or jacket in beiges and light greys, with aqua, pink, mint shirts underneath will surely do wonders to your look. Avoid black and dark shades. You don’t want to be a sore, for sure. Just kidding!
To pull off an all white look, you have to be a Hrithik or a Rampal.
Colors like black and chocolate well adorn the evening mood. A sense of royalty is exuded by the darker shades. There are new colors to experiment like wine, purple, hazel apart from the regular reds and blacks. Velveteen (velvet finish) is a fabric to experiment with for the nightly affairs. A silk scarf and a pocket square will complement the entire ensemble well.
Most important of all, enjoy yourself at the wedding. Combine your attire with your infectious personality and set a class of your own
